Hot Cakes in Houston: Recap on Filipino Festival 6/26

HOT CAKES!
Ooo was it hot this weekend. Un-be-lieve-able!  The heat set my desserts on fire and melted the frostings of my cupcakes. Luckily we had some ice to cool them down throughout the day. Several people were intrigued to see Filipino classic flavors turned into cake balls, cupcakes, and shots. I think the Halo Halo, Pandan, and Peach Mango Pie Cake Balls left a surprising impression on most people. I wonder if some folks might have thought it was sacreligious, but hopefully it was seen as an innovation! What do YOU think?

FESTIVAL REVIEW
I was glad to see a good representation of Pilipino Americans and other ethnicities at the festival despite the weather. From young to wise, crispy lechon to Halo Halo bowls, everyone was truly enjoying the Wowowee game segments, youthful entertainment, and Pilipinos festivities. The presence of the community was a great showcase of how Pilipinos are visible here in Houston and are a vibrant part of this city's diversity.

OUR FAVORITE QUESTION:
Customer: "So where is your bakery located?"
Me: "I don't have a bakery location currently, but if you continue supporting me I will have one very soon."
So yes, please continue supporting and spreading Patlindsay's Pastries. It's a bitter sweet question. I am quite flattered that people would think I own a store front, but sad because I don't have one yet. I'm so close, but yet so far!

One day I will have a my own local bakery. But for now, I hit the streets!

SALAMAT
I want to THANK each and everyone of you who supported Patlindsay's Pastries at the Filipino Festival at Clearlake Park this past Saturday, June 26, 2010. It was a successful event despite the unbearable heat!
I would like to thank my Mom, Dad, and Sister for helping me out big time and making the dessert table run smoothly. Without them, I would be frying under the sun :)

Thanks to my band Voicebox for understanding! Go VB!

Thanks to all the festival organizers, especially Jean!

Filipino Festival Clearlake Park 6/27

Patlindsay's Pastries will be at the Filipino Festival at Clearlake Park this coming Saturday, June 27, 2010 from 9:30am-9pm.

The festival is to fundraise for the local Filipino-American community who are trying to build a Filipino church.

I will be debuting my desserts and singing in my band, Voicebox! The program shows me as a vendor, "Ms. Pinky Catalla"- ooOooOo.

So come and check out my dessert table and show some love! See you there!
